    How do I join in?

    Getting involved in the conversation

On the chatroom page, you will see a text field with a 'send' button next to it, like this:

Type your comment in the text field and press the 'send' button or press return, to submit your comment.

Your comment then appears in the chat window, just above the text entry field. The chat window looks like this:

The chat window is where you can see your comments as well as everyone else's comments who are in the chatroom.

All new comments appear at the bottom of the chat window first and move upwards as more comments are added.

Name_Host tells you it's a BBCi host talking.
Any_Name tells you it's a comment from a member of the public like you.

You will be able to see who enters and leaves the chatroom as announcements will be made in the chatroom in the same manner as comments appear.

Who else is in the chatroom?

The window to the right of the chat window shows how many people are in the chatroom and lists their names. It looks like this:

The symbol @ in front of a name tells you that it's a BBCi host or a system administrator.

Your name will appear in bold type.

I can see the conversation, but my comments aren't there.

There are only a certain number of users allowed to post comments in the chatroom at a time (otherwise the conversation just wouldn't make any sense!).

If you have typed a comment and it has not appeared, either you've forgottent ot press the 'send' button, or the room is full to capacity.

You can watch the conversation, and when someone leaves the chatroom, try again - this time there may be room for you to join in on the conversation.

How do I leave & find more chatrooms?

To leave, or to go to other Ask Online events or chatrooms, and chat about another topic, click on the 'Leave this Event' box at the top right side of the screen. It looks like this:

Leave This Event
