Question from Rob H: In your opinion front or rear wheel drive for a road car?

Tiff Needell: Rear wheel drive for the enthusiast. Front wheel drive for simplicity, and more space in your boot!

Question from Steve Martin1: What is your view on the Toca shoot out crash 1993 between yourself and the Mondeo of Nigel Mansell?

Tiff Needell: My view is that I braked to avoid Mansell when he came whinging across the road in front of me, but if I'd known he'd blame me for the accident afterwards... I'd have accelerated into him and done a proper job!

Question from Andy Clayton: Who's the best performance driver out of other presenters who have been on Top Gear?

Tiff Needell: Vicki is an excellent driver with a racing pedigree behind her. Jason's no slouch either. But I think Andy's best left in the passenger seat of the Shamrock!

Question from Mike W: Can you go on racing circuits in your own car for a day?

Tiff Needell: Yes. There are various clubs that run track days, where you take your own car, and it's something we always encourage people to do. You could phone Brands Hatch - they've got details.

Question from Tom Garford: Tiff I'm 15 years old and I have a car and have been able to drive since I was 10 and I want to know what I should I do because I have always wanted to be a Top Gear presenter.

Tiff Needell: Get a job as a car journalist to prove you can not only drive but write. Then make a film of yourself, and send it to the Top Gear office.

Question from Carl Mann: From Porsche - worked with you at Bedford (Police Officer)...have you driven the new GT2 yet and if not when do you think you will?

Tiff Needell: We're waiting for the first right-hand drive model to come into this country in the next few weeks - and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Question from Mark Reynolds: Would you have the 4x4 or 2WD Cossy Sierra? I love oversteering cars but which is the more fun overall?

Tiff Needell: Always go for the rear-wheel drive. 4 wheel drive on the roads is a waste of time.

Question from Oliver Grant: After reading you article in motorsport now, how do you feel about a 14 year old testing a formula ford??

Tiff Needell: The earlier you start the better. But at the same time, it shouldn't matter if you only start when you are 19 years old. To me, it doesn't matter what age you are, as long as you have the talent.

Question from Matthew Taylor: Will there be a sister Top Gear programme covering motorbikes in general?

Tiff Needell: I'm a big motorbike fan. But for the moment, Top Gear is sticking to cars. Hopefully that might change at any time in the future.

Question from Andrew Diment: It's my wives first visit to LeMans and she wants to know if you'll be there. She loves you. I don't think you're that bad either. And, as you know, the Brits love you too.

Tiff Needell: Sadly I haven't got a drive at Le Mans this year, but it's never too late! I'm certainly keen to get back there again.

Question from Stuart Elmore: Who's gonna win the 2001 Formula One season?

Tiff Needell: Michael Schumacher. The best driver in the best car.

Question from Taco Oldenburger: What do jou think of Volvo's concept cars?

Tiff Needell: Concept cars are something I never take too seriously. They're fun for the designers, but more often a frustration for us drivers who never get to ever use them.
