Ask Samantha Mumba transcript
This event took place Friday 14th September 2001
Samantha Mumba
Samantha Mumba answered all your questions live online, after TOTP.

Question from Quentin: What will you do if you get the Number 1 on Sunday?

Samantha Mumba: For me, just the top five would be wicked, because I've been away for so long, and all my other singles have been top five, so to keep that record up would be wonderful.

Question from sarah : Which celeb would you really like to go out with?

Samantha Mumba:Probably Usher... or maybe Josh Hartnett.

Question from luke saville : What do you do to keep your body in such a good condition?

Samantha Mumba: It's not in as good condition! I don't know - I suppose I dance a lot, but I am quite addicted to MacDonalds... One tip - every morning drink a cup of hot water with a lemon slice in it - it flushes away all the toxins...

Question from Laura: How do you feel being called the new Britney?

Samantha Mumba: That's very flattering - I've met her and she's a wonderful person - so that's very sweet.

Question from Laura: How do you feel to be so famous at such a young age?

Samantha Mumba: To be perfectly honest I really don't think about it - it would mess up my head if I thought about it so much.

Question from tiffany adams:How did you get into music and why?

Samantha Mumba: I've been performing all my life, so it's just always felt natural - I'm just as comfortable sitting on stage as I am sitting in my bedroom. I started off dancing, from the age of three...And I sang from an early age too.

Question from CoolGirl : Hi Samantha. I saw you at Live and Kicking live in February. I'd like to ask you, what was it like in America. Did you get a bigger response to your fans here, or there?

Samantha Mumba: For me, I think maybe American fans are a little bit more excitable.

Question from tiffany adams : When was the last time you messed up when you where singing a song live?

Samantha Mumba: I was on the *NSYNC tour, singing Gotta Tell You, and I sang the first verse twice! It was absolutely mortifying. People were singing along with me, and I could see some faces in the crowd going 'what?'

Question from Drumcondra: Hey Samantha! is it true that "The Boy" will be your next single out in January?

Samantha Mumba: No, actually, my next single will be called Lately and it will be out in November.

Question from Tracey: What is your upcoming film about?

Samantha Mumba: Go and see it and you'll find out! It's a sci-fi action adventure movie called the Time Machine. It was directed by Simon Wells - it's a Dreamworks movie. It'll be out here in January. It was amazing. I was shooting for about three months. It was incredible. It was a new experience. Just to be involved in a Dreamworks movie is unbelievable.

Question from amy gibson : Is there a story behind the song? like did u write it after an experience or summat?

Samantha Mumba: It's a fun song - not really based on experience. It's just for people to put on the stereo when they're getting ready to go out, type of thing.

Question from Stephen Didlick: I'm Irish, you can tell from my surname probably, anyway, how was it, working with brian from westlife in stage school?

Samantha Mumba: We were in the same class - he was a normal bloke, really funny, and we got on really well.

Question from heavens: Hi samantha how did u react when u heard about the terrorist attacks on America?

Samantha Mumba: Still in shock, to be honest. I think it's absolutely awful. I was in Dublin doing interviews at the time. We spent most of the time, me and the interviewer, just staring at the TV in shock.
