Question from Sadie: Any plans to be in a West End musical?
Rula_Lenska: I went up for an audition about two months ago for one but it clashed with
the Vagina Monologues, which I'm doing next, but I hope that one day it will happen.
Question from Angus: When is Fakers coming out?
Rula_Lenska: It's in the editing suite now. I think it should be finished by the end of
next month, so probably around Easter time. It looks wonderful from what I've seen of
it.
Question from Mirian: Can you tell me about your role in the new film Fakers?
Rula_Lenska: I play a gallery owner. It's about art forgeries and Matthew Rhys comes in
to see me and there's a minor flirtatious moment and I agree to buy the picture off him ... it's
delightful. Really funny, beautifully cast and I think it'll be something special.
Question from Neil: What is the hardest script you have ever had to learn?
Rula_Lenska: Probably the Vagina Monologues, there's no action and each one is about 5
minutes long. That would probably come in the Top 10. Other than that, Shakespeare. Although
once it's in there, you never forget it!
Question from Jo: You have been in so many TV series and with so many actors, is there a
particular series you enjoyed working on and a particular person you are glad to have worked
with?
Rula_Lenska: Many of them... obviously Follies was a delight, I adored my two co-stars. I
did a series with John Inman, I loved working with him. Of course, EastEnders, Minder... there
are so many of them it's difficult to remember all of them. One Foot In The Grave was great as
well.
Question from Nora: Did you enjoy appearing in Doctor Who? It looked like a really good
fun part to play!
Rula_Lenska: I enjoyed it, but that was many moons ago. It was one of my huge list of
baddies and it was great to take part in something that has become a huge cult following. I
still get asked to appear at conventions and things.
Question from Follie: Do you prefer working TV, film or theatre?
Rula_Lenska: I've done much more theatre. For me, the two are incomparable as it's a
completely different working format. In film and TV you don't rehearse in the same way as
theatre and what is seen is the director's choice, whereas on stage it's almost down to
you.
Question from Starkj: Are there any roles you haven't really liked to do or have been
glad to finish filming?
Rula_Lenska: No! I'm fairly careful about what I accept and decide to do.
Question from Sadie: Do you have any plans to move back to Poland?
Rula_Lenska: I visit regularly; I have strong thought about the possibility of moving
back there. I still have lots of family and friends over there, but so far no career
possibilities have come up over there and I'm not ready to give up yet. It doesn't look very
likely at the moment.
Question from Nick: Can you tell us more about your conservation work?
Rula_Lenska: How long have you got? It's a passion. I'm a trustee on a wildlife charity,
I work for the Born Free Foundation... I have two adopted elephants in Kenya. I either sit on
committees or raise money when I get chance. My dream is to do my own programme and I've done
lots of commentaries. One of my big heroes is David Attenborough. It's a great place for a woman
who's passionate and can pass that passion on to the audience.
Question from Sadie: When are you going to write your autobiography?
Rula_Lenska: It has been talked about. I'd rather wait a few more years before I put pen
to paper.
