CBBC_Host: Hello, and welcome to today's Star Chat with Xperi-mental presenter and CBBC man Ortis! Ortis has been in this biz as a presenter at the BBC for four years now. In that time, he has interviewed EVERYBODY, and been all over the place. Ortis is currently presenting new CBBC show Xperi-mental which is a fast paced mix of predictions, science and daring stunts! It is on every Wednesday at 4pm on BBC ONE. In his spare time he hits the gym, goes shopping, reads comics and chills right out.

From Pip: How did you get involved with your new show?

Ortis: I was asked which was quite nice. The guys at Initial TV made the show with me in mind!

From manal: What is your favourite program you have presented for?

Ortis: I've been fortunate and they've all been very different so for different reasons I've enjoyed all of them, around about the same.

From sara: how did you get to become a CBBC presenter?

Ortis: I had to do it the hard way! I came in for an audition just over four years ago, to be a reporter for Short Change, and I got it - hooray!

From Elise: How long have you been working with CBBC?

Ortis: I started in December 1998 so just over four years. I don't know! Log on to the CBBC website and there's probably something there. We don't know if there will be a second series yet.

From Luke: Hi, I really love experimental. How do the teams apply for it?

Ortis: I don't know! Log on to the CBBC website and there's probably something there. We don't know if there will be a second series yet.

From Bekks: Did you like science when you were at school?

Ortis: I did enjoy physics and chemistry. Wasn't that much in love with biology but I did physics, chemistry and maths at A level so I loved science.

From sara: what qualifications do you need to be a presenter?

Ortis: Hi Sara. You don't need any as such, you need to be able to talk to a camera, smile and be able to get your information across in a manner that people watching will enjoy and understand.

From David: hiya Ortis my name is David , my question is , is it hard being a presenter for so many CBBC shows because you work very hard it seems.

Ortis: Hi David. The good thing about being a presenter, I enjoy taking part in it. It can be hard work sometimes, especially getting up early in the mornings. Not a problem for me though because I enjoy it so much!

From Andy: If you had another job what would it be?

Ortis: Ummm... I do have a degree in pharmacy so I guess I’d be your friendly neighbourhood pharmacist. Come bring your prescriptions to me!

From Jill: what are your favourite sports?

Ortis: I do keep quite active. I love athletics - track and field. I used to do that when I was a young man. I like volleyball as well.

From Icecle: hello Ortis + CBBC, what is like and do u enjoy presenting ? Do u get stressed at all?

Ortis: Hi, how are you doing? Yes I get stressed sometimes but not really about work. I get stressed by girlfriends! I enjoy working at CBBC, love it very much and I do enjoy presenting, it's all very good.

From shona: wot did you want to be when you were little?

Ortis: Everything! I wanted to be a policeman, scientist, the worlds best track and field athlete! Now I just want to stick to entertaining people.

From matt1: which is better, short change or x-perimental?

Ortis: Well Matt, you tell me! I can't pick between the two.

From Bekks: Do you have any wacky nicknames?

Ortis: I did at primary school. I was called Peanuts and to this day, I still don't know why! Mr Cool was my favourite name at primary school. I gave it to myself. It didn't catch on though!

From trevor & andrea: What is it like doing a show nearly on your own?

Ortis: I love it. I love working with people but I think I'm at my best when I'm doing it in a solitary way - the one! Uno!

From ambyr: hi Ortis, has any of the x-periments gone wrong yet?

Ortis: Yes! The teams had to do some work with explosive materials - gunpowder, rope soaked in paraffin and secret explosives - they didn't quite go according to plan. They almost set the studio on fire. Hey, fun times!

From Chris: What was your fave tv show when you were a kid?

Ortis: Ooooo... I liked Jamie and the Magic Torch, that was good. And a really old show called Pipkins which had a hare in it... and Chorlton and the Wheelies! But I'm starting to show my age now so I'll stop there.
