Question from Nigel Howard: Were you happy or sad that the character of Dolly Rawlins in Widows/She's Out was killed at the very end?

Ann Mitchell: I was sad because I loved the character so much and we could have a lot of adventures with it, doing lots of bad and naughty things. I also understood that, being a villain, there was a moral situation. It was a popular character and she couldn't have gone on being engaging with people. I had lots of scenarios handed to me after, suggesting ways I could bring the character back to life, very strange.

Question from Michelle Peacock: Was the character you played in EastEnders anything like you in real life?

Ann Mitchell: Yes, there were some things, particularly at the beginning. I was trying to be as thoughtful as I could about the situation and the great love of her son. Jane doesn't see that he's a naughty boy, she loves him so much.

Question from Johnny Saunders: Is there any actor or director that you would like to work with?

Ann Mitchell: Yes, there are so many. Judy Dench, the American actor Gena Rowlands. Of the men, there's so many I can't think of any off the top of my head. Brad Pitt maybe!

Question from Nadine: I am doing acting classes, and I was wondering if you've got any tips?

Ann Mitchell: Do as many classes as you can. Get the brochures from all the best drama schools, go and see their work and then apply. Never apply to just one drama school, apply to four or five. And keep learning.

Question from Katherine: Should Roy have been honest with his family from the start?

Ann Mitchell: Yes, in my opinion. If he had been honest though, I wouldn't have been in it much! I think he will pay the price for it. I'm sure there will be repercussions.

Question from Eve: Do you think Nathan and Roy will become closer in the future or do you see trouble ahead?

Ann Mitchell: I think Nathan will be so distressed, he'll be lashing out and very angry so I suspect there will be trouble. Whether they can get over that, I don't know.

Question from Dennis: Are you pleased to see that some of your students from the Guildhall - Ewan McGregor, Joseph Fiennes and Natasha Little, have done so well?

Ann Mitchell: I feel wonderful. It's a wonderful thing to see young people becoming successful and having opportunities like that. It's very exciting for a teacher. With Ewan, I always felt that he had something very special and I felt like he was a film actor. I felt that he would have many opportunities in film.

Question from Brainbox: Who is your favourite character in EastEnders and why?

Ann Mitchell: I have two. Dot of course, because I love her eccentricity. I think she's just remarkable. What June does with her is absolutely great. I'm very interested in the character Billy, in light of the present storyline. Also he tries so hard and he gets bitten and bounces back again. I like that spirit in a person.

Question from Greg Harris: Are you a fan of French and Saunders, and were they fun to work with?

Ann Mitchell: They were wonderful to work with. I'm a huge fan of theirs. They giggled a lot. At one point, Lenny Henry came into the studio and was standing behind the character saying to them 'pull yourself together'.

Question from Jacob Harvey: Have you been in any films?

Ann Mitchell: Yes. Lady Chatterleys Lover, Paper Marriage, the Michael Caine one about Jack The Ripper, many years ago. Yanks ... so a few.

Question from Soshain: Do you watch yourself on screen at home?

Ann Mitchell: I'm very critical of myself. I only watch the programmes once though. I'm always watching to see how I could do it better. I never watch again.

Question from Laura Caton: If you could, would you swap your career or are you totally happy with who and what you are? What other career could you imagine doing?

Ann Mitchell: Interesting question Laura. I've always been interested in psychoanalysis. I could see myself doing that.

Question from Total Babe 2990: What was the biggest problem while filming?

Ann Mitchell: There were some changes made in the script and that meant that I played certain scenes before I'd been given certain information and I would have played them slightly differently. They changed them back again in the end so it was ok. The speed with which everything is done on EastEnders is amazing.

Question from Colin: Is there a particular part or role that you would still like to play?

Ann Mitchell: I've never played Lady McBeth and I'd like to do that. I think it's because most actors want to pit themselves against a great role and see what they can come up with. The classics are an enormous challenge for any actor.
