
Controller: Liam KeelanWe've worked hard over the last few years to give audiences a much broader range of programmes and we're now aiming to push the boundaries even further. No subjects are off limits for the daytime audience as long as we do them in a way which really engages viewers.
We're always looking for big ideas - bold concepts or striking talent that can deliver in the mornings on BBC ONE, the busiest time for our viewers. As well as some of the well known daytime shows such as Homes Under the Hammer and Bargain Hunt, we’ve had great success recently in the areas of current affairs and consumer programmes. Rip-Off Britain, Saints and Scroungers and Fake Britain are all examples of shows that have played remarkably well in daytime and have also been successfully repeated in peak.

We've also had success at 9.15 with event-led programming, often with a history theme. Missing Live, Rewind the 60s, The Week We Went to War, Remembrance Week and A Hunderd Years of Us have all worked well here.
BBC TWO afternoon viewers want to be entertained. Programmes that perform well here include Flog It!, Antiques Roadtrip and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is. We have also developed a quiz slot at 4.30pm where Pointless and Perfection have played to large audiences.

Daytime also commissions between 18.00 - 19.00 on BBC TWO. This is a busy, transient time in most households so we need programmes that catch the attention of the whole family. Successes in this slot include Great British Menu, Great British Railway Journeys, Eggheads, Strictly Come Dancing - It Takes Two and One Man and His Campervan.

Ambition and originality are key to Daytime & Early Peak. Across the day we are looking for bold, clear concepts which capture a mass audience.
Daytime & Early Peak is constantly exploring new ideas and territories. Recent examples include My Life in Books for 6.30pm and an arts-based factual entertainment series, Show Me the Monet for 5.15pm on Two.
Early evening on BBC TWO we need to provide a compelling alternative to the news. Shows need to provide enough substance for the older viewers who are settling for the evening but not be too challenging for people who are winding down after a busy day at work.
The Daytime & Early Peak audience is incredibly diverse in terms of income, age and interests, and up to 40% of the audience is male. Ideas have to capture the imagination of the young mother, retired person and shift worker.
