Our calendar is underpinned by a strict Governance process which is designed to make the fixed points of our business cycle as robust and effective as possible. This gives us a defined framework for both discussion and decision making within a transparent structure.
We have designed our business cycle with three key internal and external meetings in mind in order to provide a direct line of sight between the Online Advisory Group, the External Supply Steering Group and the Online Direction Group. A number of senior BBC Online Executives attend all three meetings to ensure continuity and the most appropriate flow of information. The most notable of the executives who attends all three is the General Manager, BBC Online, Andy Conroy.
The Online Advisory Group has a largely independent membership with an independent Chair in the form of Nicole Yershon who is Director, Innovative Solutions, at Ogilvy. This group discusses key themes relating to the business, provides direct market input to our strategy and advises the senior BBC Future Media team throughout the year.
The OAG meets quarterly and has its own Terms of Reference that you can find in the downloads section of this page, top right. We will be publishing a narrative relating to the work of the OAG on an annual basis. In terms of Governance the OAG supplies information directly to the External Supply Steering Group. The following people make up the The Online Advisory Group:
The External Supply Steering Group meets monthly and focuses entirely on the BBC's relationship with the external market both from a business perspective (contractual, financial and legal) and from an engagement perspective (events, briefings etc). The membership of this group is internal and it is chaired by the General Manager, BBC Online.
Finally, the Online Direction Group is the board that sets the overall strategy and governance of BBC Online. This group meets monthly and is chaired by the Director, Future Media.
The Events Calendar is currently in the process of being updating but in the meantime please see the list of Connected Studio events with information about how to get involved.
