From Today (10th January) you will be able to apply for tickets for Radio Fast Train, the free training day for professionals in independent production companies, freelancers and community radio.
The Radio Fast Train event will take place on February 7th 2012 in BBC White City building, next to Television Centre in London W12.
The event is hosted by the BBC Academy in partnership with Skillset, Radio Fast Train will be produced in association with The Radio Academy, Radio Independents Group, RadioCentre, and the Community Media Association.
Tickets are available through the BBC Academy's website.
The event follows the enormous success of Fast Train for television in May 2011 - a training and networking event hosted by the Academy and sponsored by Skillset which attracted around 350 TV freelances to taster sessions and masterclasses - for free. Fast Train, in May, showcased some of the biggest names in the industry including BBC Controllers, leading independents and renowned programme makers.
Radio Fast Train centres on four themes: Ideas, Technology, Skills and Business. Sessions will range from creative thinking, pitching workshops, microphone techniques and location recording, live studio production, editorial values, social media, how to make apps, podcasting, to finance for freelancers and coaching one-to-ones
More details can be found through the BBC Academy's website.
The BBC Academy is the BBC’s centre for training. It houses the Colleges of Journalism, Production, Leadership and the Centre of Technology. As well as training our own staff, we also have a remit under the terms of the BBC's Charter Agreement to train the wider industry. We aim to share as much of our training as possible with the wider UK broadcasting industry for free. We also offer some of our courses on a commercial basis, both within the UK and abroad.
The event will be project-managed by Debbie Kilbride. Debbie, who won Sony Gold & Silver Awards for her work on BBC Radio 4 and Saturday Live, has worked in local, community & network radio for BBC Radios 1, 2 & 4 and in both production & interactive teams.
