Updated: Radio 1/1Xtra Stories commissioning round and docs festival

On 13th October we launched the Commissioning Round for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra Stories for 2012. You can find the brand new briefs in the downloads section of the Radio 1/1Xtra Commissioning page.

On 13th October we will be launching the commissioning round for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra Stories for 2012.The launch will take place at the BBC's legendary Maida Vale Studios at 17.30. On the same day, we will be holding a mini documentary festival up at Maida Vale - kicking off at 2.30pm.
It will be a series of talks from interesting people from the wide world of documentaries. It is designed to be a creatively inspirational afternoon, and by no means essential to get your ideas commissioned!
Space will be limited - so we will have to limit the number of attendees from individual companies and will prioritise those who have made or expressed an interest in making programmes for R1 and 1X. Producers and production companies are welcome to come to this, or just come along to the launch itself later in the day.
Please could you inform Alice Lloyd if you wish to attend either the documentaries festival or the launch of the commissioning round.
BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra WoCC plans
I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our plans for the WoCC. The commissioning rounds for Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra Stories will be run as part of our commitment to the WoCC.
However, we are holding back from announcing our full plans for the WoCC until a new controller is appointed for the two networks.We would envisage this being before the end of the year, with commissioning rounds for the new shows opening in January 2012.
The ambition is for all potential new production teams to be in place for the start of April 2012.
