Proposals are invited from companies interested in continuing and developing Something Understood, the meditative strand which for many years has featured in the early morning and late evening Sunday schedule.
This is admired and unusual programming. The tone is meditative and thoughtful. The content is a mix of ideas, interview, literature and music built around a theme. The intention is to stimulate thoughts and responses beyond the purely temporal and to set the world in a spiritual, though not necessarily always religious, context. The strand has a range of presenters, including Mark Tully.
Tenders may wish to indicate changes to be made in delivery but the tone and intent of the strand remain unchanged.
Please take a look at the full Something Understood tender document and programme audience information in the Radio 4 page downloads section for more information on how to submit, contact details and what's required by the deadline of 15th November 2012.
