Learning Zone opportunity: PSHE / Body Image KS3/4

Learning Zone

The Learning Zone is keen to commission a PSHE series on Body Image for Secondary Schools in Key Stage 3/4 (11-16).

Body Image is a critical issue for young people today. For the Learning Zone, we would like to commission a series aimed at young teenager. The films will raise questions about our obsession with body image and challenge some of the prevailing notions about what is normal, and acceptable. Because eating disorders and plastic surgery for teenagers are on the increase, we are keen to put current trends into a historical, even international context. Research has shown that challenging unrealistic ideals of beauty can be one of the most effective interventions for young people, especially if the challenges come from peers and role models.

We are looking for 5x 6’ mini docs or authored films, featuring a range of perspectives. The series must have credibility for our audience, have a strong visual impact and flair, and the highest possible production values. You can read the full brief and requirements in the 'Learning Zone brief: PHSE / Body Image KS3/4' document in the downloads section of this page and find out more about BBC Learning opportuntines on the Learning Commissioning page.
