Sneak Previews - The House That Jack Built
The House That Jack Built - BBC One.

Adam Faith is Jack Squire
The welcome mat awaits in The House That Jack Built, BBC One's sitcom starring Adam Faith and Gillian Taylforth. Jack Squire is a self-made man, a wealthy property-developer who places his family above all else. He governs 'Hertfordshire's First Family' as a loving dictatorship.

The Squire Siblings: Richard Lumsden plays eldest son Roger, torn between pleasing his Dad and retaining his individuality.

Roger's wife Vicky (Carli Norris) seems to be at odds with everything Jack says, but is there something more to this than meets the eye?

J.J. and Lisa live at home and make the most of their Dad's income. Youngest son J.J. is more concerned with fast cars and similar women, and Lisa is the It Girl and queen of King's Road.

What is The House That Jack Built about?
One man who'll stop at nothing to build the dynasty of his dreams.

Who is the talent behind the concept?
Goodnight Sweetheart scribes Gary lawson and John Phelps, with Marks and Gran (Love Hurts, Shine on Harvey Moon, Birds Of A Feather) acting as supervising producers.

What attracted Adam Faith to the role of Jack Squire?
I liked The House That Jack Built straight away because it locks into the greatest single area of humour, which is class. I saw Jack as a class warrior. He doesn't earn money to be flash, he does it to say 'Up yours'!

Maxine and Jack
Gillian Taylforth on Maxine Squire
'She's a great character,' says Gillian, 'Her husband Jack is a self-made millionaire, so they are loaded, but money hasn't ruined her. She's a kind person. Jack's the one who runs the business and Maxine runs the house. She's very much in control.'

Richard Lumsden is Roger Squire.
'Roger is the nice one... but capable of being as dubious as the rest of them. He is essentially good, but he has to be a little bit ruthless given the family he has got. As soon as his Dad is in the room the need to prove himself comes through, and weakens him.'

Kellie Bright on Lisa Squire
'I don't think Lisa is a bad person,' she explains 'she's just spoilt. She's daddy's princess, who has no concept of the value of money.'

Luke D Woolfson on J.J. Squire
Luke says the only similarity with his character is getting stressed over small things 'like will England win the world cup? On a general level i think I'm quite chilled.'
