greg2k2: What is your fondest memeory of making Father Ted?
Ardal:There was probably no one single moment. The whole experience was incredible. Above everything else it was the camaraderie, particularly in the first series. There was always a great sense of fun and mischief. The kind of things you remember are the hardships. I remember being dragged through a field on the back of a tractor, things like that - those memories stay with you for quite a long time.
I remember being nearly frozen to death on a crazy golf course in the mountains in County Clare. The conditions were so severe - it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever been involved in in a TV show. There was like frozen rain there - but they had rain machines as well. I was so cold, and there was a 40 minute ride back to base. But I found the first house I saw, and pleaded with them to have a hot bath, as I couldn't face the journey.
Sue1: In My Hero, how do you put teeth in the baby?
Ardal: Ah well, now, that's a technical question! Our director John Stroud is a very clever techno boffin. I'm guessing wildly - in the editing suite, I think they add the mouth of John Stroud's son to the baby's face, digitally, I would imagine. But I may be completely wrong!
flower1: Do you have any pets on your planet?
Ardal: That's probably a question that some of the viewers could answer better than me. I'm sure there have been some references to various animals. I just can't remember them. I tend to learn a script and then it goes out of my head as soon as the episode's over. People recite lines from Father Ted and My Hero, and I can't remember them. But I think you'll find references to animals and food and culture that are uniquely Ultronian.
Mooey1: So come on Ardal, tell us if Piers is really that stuck-up in real life?!
Ardal: Hugh Dennis is his name in real life. And yes, he is that stuck-up. But he's probably the nicest stuck-up person I've ever met. He's a good friend of mine, Hugh, or Pete as we know him... Hugh's the most helpful and the most knowledgeable person I've ever met. I've rung him at 2am with a simple question, like 'Where would you find an all-night pharmacy in London?', and he'll have the answer on the tip of his tongue.
