Reece Shearsmith

Reece Shearsmith

Reece Shearsmith became famous as a founder of The League of Gentlemen, whose unpredictable success came as much from the bizarre chemistry of the performers and writers behind it as the selection of freaks they created.

Shearsmith's roles in The League demonstrated a range of skills in personae, voice and character that are truly extraordinary.

Management git Geoff; Papa Lazarou, hapless nephew Benjamin Denton, and Ollie, issue-laden leader of Legs Akimbo are only a few examples. Papa Lazarou breaking in to a woman's house and making her 'my wife' is still cited as the most terrifying moment from the series.

Since The League stopped making regular appearances (not counting The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse) Shearsmith has appeared as Tony the psychopath, just one of the many characters making life hell for Vic and Bob in Catterick, and has appeared in Shaun of the Dead and the film incarnation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
