Josie Lawrence

Josie Lawrence

Born Wendy Lawrence on 6 June 1959 in Dudley, West Midlands, Josie Lawrence knew from the age of five she wanted to be an actress.

After studying theatre at Dartington College of Arts, she appeared in a wide range of stage productions.

In 1987, she joined the The Comedy Store Players, and shot to fame the following year as one of the regular contributors to Channel 4's Whose Line is it Anyway?

Off the back of her appearances, the channel awarded Lawrence with her own short-lived series, Josie, which ended each week with an improvised song.

She also went on to star in ITV's Outside Edge and The Masterson Inheritance on BBC Radio For.

She's since turned into something of a jobbing actor, with appearances in shows such as Holby City and Down to Earth.

In 2006, she made a return to comedy in ITV's The Complete Guide to Parenting.
