The Debrief
Paul is in love with Jan, a ‘legal secretary.’ TerryOne night in the pub, he warns Sean that he, too, should be looking for love otherwise where’s he going to end up? Sitting at the bar doing the daily crossword with a bunch of middle aged single men, that’s where. Luckily, Sean finds salvation in the shape of a Latvian nurse, Vajanya. Cue bouncers on a stag night, a gospel wedding and some unforeseen revelations.

The ReverendThe text Reverend Clifford Thomas reads to Sean and Paul is Judges, 4, 21: "Then Jael, Heber's wife, took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died."
character profile
Reverend CliffordReverend Clifford, as his parishioners call him, was born in Streatham in the early sixties. His formative years were spent drinking, fighting and womanising, with occasional brushes with the law. Things changed, however, on a visit to his mother’s side of the family in America. His Aunt Ida took him to church one Sunday and it changed his life forever. Clifford returned as the Reverend Clifford and set up his own church in West London: The One True Church of the Living Gospel and Everlasting Tabernacle of the Born-again Adventists. Like most reformed characters, he despises what he once practiced, though he still retains an eye for the ladies.

Naive moment
Paul and Sean, throughout the whole episode. Misguided, blinkered, utterly, totally blind to the facts staring them in the face.

City of contrasts, really
