The Ghosts Of Christmas Past

Telescopic Christmas trees Christmas Trees
(from the special: The Funny Side Of Christmas)
[NB. This special is not available commercially]

Transmitted: 27.12.1982
Duration: 8 minutes
Viewing Figures: 7.2 million

Despite knocking the price down to a mere six quid, Del Boy can’t shift his telescopic Christmas trees (lights, bangles, beads and baubles inclusive). He only has 149 more to sell to make a tidy profit.

Stuck for a solution the Trotters decamp to Sid’s burger van. Del’s conscience seems to get the better of him, and he tells Rodney and Grandad what a shame it is that the market traders can’t afford to donate a tree to the local church this year. Especially the little orphans.

DelLeft to guard the trees, Rodney steals away to the church.

The Vicar quickly debunks Del’s story, and Rodders realises the tale was a scam to get an endorsement from The Church of England.

Did You Know?
The phrase ‘lovely jubberly’ may originate from a childhood frozen orange drink that John Sullivan and Richard Funnel once reminisced over, called ‘Jubberlies’. The slogan for these was ‘Lovely Jubberly’.
Famous quote

Vicar: I have become dismayed, even shocked by the attitude of youth - but today you walked into this church and offered us this tree simply because you care. You have rekindled my faith in the human race. It's not nicked is it?

How do you rate Christmas Trees?

Is it a one star jaffa or a two star puscas puscas? Is it a three star fabrique belgique or a four star cushty? Or is it simply a five star creme de la menthe classic?
