Watch Psychic Live and Most Haunted and then watch this and THEN tell me it isn't funny! Brilliant expose of how people are manipulated by suggestion by these fakes. A canine spirit-guide? Priceless!
james bond
only saw last 2 episodes after watching him on j ross, funniest thing I have ever seen. Up there with the mighty partridge.
Mavis Davies
Brilliant!!
Watch out Derek Acorah - you've been rumbled :-)
He knows what I mean .........
Rob
All those who hated it - tough! get a sense of humour.
When can I get the DVD cos I can't wait for repeats. Best comedy this year!!!
michael
It's absolutely brilliant. More please
Nude
I absolutely love the one and only Ghostman and cannot believe that you think it's comedy. This is spiritualist mediumship at its best. Derek Decorra watch out! Shirley is hot on your heels.
Blessed Be!
Nudist Spoon.
paul adamson.
it really was a brilliant comedy and a breath of fresh air, interesting also that the psychic newpaper 'paranormal news' finds shirley ghostman funny that should keep the 'bad taste' people in their place.
Lyndie T
How Funny !! I should be insulted as a fellow member of the SNU, but you can't help but laugh as he's taking the pee out of the "TV Mediums" For those who don't get it, they must have closed minds !!
Spook to ya later, Love and Light x
Alan

Dear God have i ever laughed so hard in my life. Shirley what were you thinking putting yourself into Cardiac Arrest!? come back! I love you!By the way how's Sheba?
iain
Well, alot of people have spat the psychic-dummy over this show...
If you've ever done a search on the subject of 'cold reading' on the internet - you'll find lots of books on the subject and how to do it...and it requires no spirit-guide...
And if you watched the Messiah show by Derren Brown a few months back, you can see how easy it is...well, i say easy, obviously it takes years to learn how to manipulate people; but the basics are fairly easy to grasp...
Also, Charlatanism in the so-called spirit world i believe is rife - taking advantage of people who have lost someone they love is far more disgraceful than poking fun at the belief itself.
And surely (shirley) if people's faith is so strong, it can withstand a little poking?!
Which is more offensive anyway? Someone professing to have a message from someone 'behind the gravestone' and then charging you for it...or Shirley Ghostman telling you to not put a sock over a dog's head?
Putting your faith in a stranger's powers without questioning it is very niave and ultimately dangerous...
Normally, an over-reaction means a raw nerve has been touched...
Fair enough if its just not your sense of hummour; but being offensive in comedy is usually a big part of it...can you think of a decent joke that is 'nice' or not cruel to someone/something?
Peter Cook/Bill Hicks/Richard Pryor/Billy Connolly have all been deemed offensive by certain types at some point in their careers...possibly because they are a helluva lot more truthful about things, and some people seem 'allergic' to that...
Gemma Arrowsmith
We love you Shirley. I ache with laughter after every show. Marc Wootton is the best character actor I've seen for years. And the writer and producer too?!- bring on the BAFTAs and the British Comedy Awards. Fabulous.
Kevin Dean
this is absolutely fantastic, i could watch it over and over, it would never get old, i love it
Will Marsh
I feel sorry for anyone who CAN laugh at this tripe. There again some people will find anything funny.
Stevie C
Superb comedy. Anyone who is "dissapointed" [sic] by this or who don't like the "cocept" [sic] obviously do not get it. You people are probably completely taken in by the likes of Acora or Fry, and probably also aren't comfortable with other cringe-inducing comedy shows. Get back to watching Eastenders and let the rest of us who can think for ourselves appreciate this magnificent stuff.
John Shirley Creane
I thought this programme was very very funny and hope to see more series of it.
Dave
Brilliant! Steals shamelessly - but only the good stuff.
Duncan Wareing
Wooton takes the p**s out of gullible thrill-seeking losers in audience - some weak material shows up, but most of it is fresh and original enough for a good laugh at suckers expense - as good as Cyderdelic with a higher cringe factor. I like it very much.
Jules Shand-Marshall
A new comedy for people who like to laugh out loud.
It's a cult....When's it on
next?
Steve
As someone who is interested in this kind of thing I waited to watch with baited breath. I was dissapointed with it at first, but after watching it couldn't stop talking about it. OK some people take it seriously, but hey, with such a comic, maybe we should have all "SEEN IT COMING" More please, we all need to laff at serious things sometimes. Maybe wev'e all become phsycic cos we know whats gonna happen in future episodes, maybe Shirley has a great gift after all!!!
Dianne Wearing
An effiminate character in a white suit, ridiculous fraudster, silly situations - like a cross between 'Are You Being Served' and 'Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)'.
Sadly it's a cross I choose not to bear and I hope it meets a quick and painless death.
Doug Williams
From the endless previews screened to announce this offering, I thought it looked as though a classic new comedy was to be born. I watched some of the first episode and failed to see what the fuss was about. I agrre with a previous letter, the cocept was stolen from the brilliant Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights Pyskik theme which was very funny, and turned into 30 minute sessions of desperate dross. Who is this aimed at? I wonder at the reason why someone at the BBC commisioned such rubbish. I suppose it might appeal to some but how and why escapes reason.
Simon Adams
The highlight of the series so far was when that bloke in the opticians mouthed 'w**ker" to the camera.
Couldn't have put it better myself!
sean Cunningham
It's the best thing ive seen on telly for a long time, how stupid are the general public, shirley ghostman is fantastic long may "she" reign.
Ged Miller
I feel so sorry for you who carn't laugh at this.
I laughed that much I thru up,
I have to tape it and watch it in small bites or I’m ill
lisa,Stretford.
I Think Marc is just fantastic,a very funny guy.Thought he was also great in "My new best friend"...lets hope we see more of him on our screens.
Patsy Langley
I actually took part in the show and I can honestly say that the message Shirley gave me from my beloved dad was something only known to me. He may be a 'spoof' medium for the cameras, but he's a genuine one 'off camera.' Thanks, Shirley.
Also, he worked very hard to make sure that we all enjoyed ourselves.
Scott Bragg
Brilliant, painfully funny, and I just know the Spirit Academy "finalists" will make for priceless TV. 10/10
Tom
It is hillarious! It absolutely rips to shreads programs like '6th Sense with Colin Fry'. It seems to only appeal to a very small minority of people: evidently the small minority of people who have a proper sense of humour!
mike cassidy
i was absolutely appalled by this program
alternative medicine will always attract charlatans, but to make fun of genuine rumpologists was way below the belt
members of my organisation are doing good work helping people who are in genuine physical and psychological pain
mike cassidy
chairman
British Union of Medical Rumpologists
Reggie
VERY VERY funny - how the hell does he get away with it though?! :-)
Lu
Brilliant, the Spirit Academy was such a fantastic idea, and the fact that everyone on it took themselves so seriously made it even better. I can understand why people don't like this show, it's not to everyone's taste, but don't criticise people for liking it, everyone has a different sense of humour, and if they didn't every show would be made to a set formula to cater for everyone!!
Les Wright
Totally lame. This must be a new genre - 'an alternative to comedy'. Something that is supposed to be a comedy but is really missing the required essentials, namely a good script, funny characters, originality, and most importantly - laughs.
Sharon Dee
How low has the BBC sunk. This low is as far as you can sink. At least when you hit rock bottom with shows like this there can only be one way to go and that's got to be upwards.
Dreadful is the only polite word I can use for this latest excuse for a comedy.
Craig Johnson
Total waste of airtime. I can't believe the fact that some people actually find this funny. Bring back The Smoking Room. As it's also on BBC3 that means this crap will be repeated endlessly day in day out until someone eventually finds it funny.
Jason Hook
Sorry just don't get it. Not sure what manner of evil beast possessed the people responsible for this programme and made them commision it but exorcise it please, make it go away....
rachel Gee
the funniest show ive seen in ages!......Mark Wootton's great, gonna be huge!
Jacqueline
Verdict on Shirley Ghostman?: Instant Devotion - and it reminded me of how good Marc was in Cyderdelic - more of both please!!!! Love and Light
denis chrono
Finally the comedic truth about the practitioners of the afterlife. Made only more real by the reaction of some of the public.
jimmysqueeker
i cringed at the rumpology bit but laughed so hard that im considering wearing an adult diaper for the next show
PAUL BARBER
Thank god for Marc Wootton and Liam Woodman !!!! Another great comedy from these guys this is certainly going to be as good as any comedy the BBC has aired, Im also going to start my own campaign for Bringing back ''Cyderdelic''!!!!!
Julie Gregory
Best and funniest programme on TV - Ever!!
Emma
This programme is SOOOOO funny!!! You just HAVE to watch it!!!
"Can i have Shushy please"
Ashley
I demand the resignations of everybody responsible for the commissioning, production and broadcast of this programme. Truly appalling television.
Andy Futter
What a wonderfully funny programme. I now know how to kill a dog in the most humane way possible - who'd have thought 'Buckaroo' could be so useful?
Bless you Shirley - Love and Light!

Total Trash. I don't blame the actors the material just lacks one thing - humour. The programme hinges around one joke which is that as a clairvoyant Shirley Ghostman cons people that he is psychic but really is a fraud. Once this joke has had a few laughs it then becomes tiresome. Might appeal to no-brainers who would laugh at Panorama if they were told it was a comedy.
Brendon McArthur
I turned off after 10 minutes because there was nothing funny here. I regret having watched for 10 minutes. I suggest this is moved to CBBC or Cbeebies as an 8 year old or someone with the mentality of an 8 year old might find it funny.
Mark Woods
What a waste of time. Poor script and totally unfunny. Hopefully this is the type of rubbish that the new BBC charter will stop the licence fee being wasted on.
Stephanie
A long time fan of the Colin Fry, Tony Stockwell and Derek Acora (Antiques Ghostshow etc.) I found Shirley's side-splittingly accurate portrayal of Britain's top mediums hilarious. Drawing the worlds a little bit closer between Little Britain and Nighty Night in full toe-curling glory.
Bill
Funniest show since Little Britain knocked us for 6. This is going to be big!! Well done BBC yet again!!
Liam
Great, but Sheba will be the biggest star.
PJ
"Let me lay on-top of you so I can open up your chakra"
Class. Going to be big I'm sure.
Natalie
I tuned in, I saw, I didn't like it. It just seemed to be a cross between one of those shows that makes fools out of the unsuspecting public and Ali G/Avid Merrion.
Dan T
All i can think is it's just been lifted from a great idea from phoenix nights. A northern rubbish pyskick. does he do a lot of work overseas?
The Voice within
He can read my palm anyday!
C Lobberman
I think this is going to be really big. I've known Mark since he was a licle lad at school. But I know his co-writer better, who doesn't seem to get much publicity, To be expected I expect. Far far better than Little Britain. Well done alll of you!
Emma
A brilliant program! As funny as Cyderdelic.
Nick Stagg
Gut acheingly funny.....I foresee big things ahead for Shirley Ghostman
