Series Seven Episode One

The Ego Has Landed

First Broadcast: 6th April 2007

Susan has organised a dinner date with the Mortons, a couple she and Ben met on holiday. Just as they are leaving the house, a mysterious but very familar-looking man arrives, asking for Janey.

It turns out to be someone her parents were beginning to think didn't actually exist: Kenzo's father, Mark.

After a long evening listening to the Mortons' views on lane closures on the A40, Ben and Susan get a surprise when the conversation suddenly turns to an unexpected request. The Mortons reveal they are having trouble conceiving, and ask if Ben would donate some of his sperm so they can try IVF.

Flattered and delighted, Ben begins to revel in his own fertility, much to the annoyance of Susan.

After much deliberation, Janey decides to grant Mark access to Kenzo, but she soon regrets her decision when he fails to bring his son home on time. Things go from bad to worse when Janey learns that Mark has been married for two years and that Kenzo has already met his "new mummy".

Convinced he is an alpha male with an eviable genetic makeup, Ben is still strutting his stuff. His glee turns out to be short-lived, however, when the results from the sperm clinic come through.

How will he tell the Mortons without losing face?
