Extras Extra
Les was born Leslie Heseltine and grew up on a council estate in Liverpool. More: Les on the IMDB.

John Thomson fluffed the audition and Christopher Biggins is busy, so the panto Aladdin in Guildford, starring Les Dennis, is suddenly in dire need of a Genie.

Could this be Andy Millman's first speaking part? Yes, it could, and not even his agent is able to mess it up.

The Agent and Andy Millma

On the surface the theatre seems a camp, close-knit and caring little community, but Andy discovers Les is in relationship crisis and on the verge of a mental breakdown.

From the local newspaper:

Family Fortunes loser Les Dennis is on the comeback trail thanks to a starring role in Aladdin. Things are looking up for Les (50) who recently announced his engagement to beautiful fiancée Simone Lewis (26). With an age gap of a quarter of a century, Dennis is clearly punching above his weight again but insists they are very much in love.

Sadly, Simone Lewis (26) has been cheating with a stagehand. Les, distraught, stops dead in the middle of his first night performance...

Andy: [prompting him] "Where do you want to go from?"

Les: "About 1992."

In episode four we also discover Maggie Jacobs was a child actor.

Extras Quote

Les: [Genie appears out of lamp] "Blimey! What a big puff."

Andy [Genie]: "Cheeky!"

Les: "Who are you?"

Andy: "Well, I'll be anyone you want me to be but you can call me Genie."

Les: "How does someone as big as you fit into this tiny lamp?"

Andy: "Don't worry about it. I'm used to squeezing myself into tight holes! Ewwwwgh! No pain, no gain."
