Ambition’s in the air. Pedantic Lay Reader Nigel has always believed he’d be a far better priest than Adam and finally gets the chance to prove it – or not - when he applies to join the priesthood. In a tizz before his interview, Nigel unconvincingly describes a mystery girlfriend to Adam as someone who could sustain him in his future ministry.
