Fawlty Towers is a sitcom that first broadcast in 1975, written by John Cleese and Connie Booth. It is set in the fictional hotel Fawlty Towers in Torquay, run by the skinflint, snobbish Basil Fawlty. Here, Basil attempts to prevent the money he won on a racehorse from being discovered by his wife Sybil, who disapproves of gambling.
