Tommy Cooper, popular prop comedian and magician, debuted on the BBC talent show ‘New to You’ in March 1948, before appearing on London Weekend Television from 1968 to 1972 and Thames Television from 1973 to 1980. He opened the Royal Variety Performance in 1964 and here we see him preparing to perform his ‘eggs’ trick.
