Last of the Summer wine is a hugely popular sitcom which started in 1973 and had run for 30 series by June 2009. It is the longest running comedy in Britain. It follows a group of retired gentlemen from the town of Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, who never wish to grow up. Compo has feelings for his neighbour, Nora Batty and tries to woo her at every turn. This is one of the many instances in which she jilts him.

I think Last of the Summer Wine is the best comedy sitcom that has ever been produced. The first 13 or 14 seasons before Campo died were the very best ever written or produced. I really hate to see it go, but time waits for no one. Harvey Cook
