Actually I think we have the evil inverse of canned laughter here, canned laughter being the adding of a laughter track to things that did not get the laughs, either because few laughed or the absence of a studio audience.
Here we have clips from actual HIGNFY shows where actual people actually laughed cut into segments of Alexander Armstrong on his lonesome: giving the semblance of canned laughter. Perhaps they need to remove the laughs here. Or did they try that already and find it leaves it flatter than week-old lemonade?

A good bit of fun - although I'm sure everyone watching must hate the canned-laughter, which is probably why you put it in :-)
Anyway, I think our new habits are: "ignoring absolutely everything that any politician says" and "stealing catchphrases".
