"I started the design thinking about the composition of the views, directing the experience that a person will have of the garden. With this in mind I attempted to form perfectly proportioned spaces, which catch light and shadow, as well as creating windows and views from both sides.
The rhythms and spacing of the plants in The Laurent Perrier Garden create a calm atmosphere. The garden's power comes from the simple and classical structure of the planting, to reveal a modern spatial arrangement with clean and easy to read lines. I hope it will have an emotional effect on visitors to the flower show."
Gardens are, or should be, nature in miniature and there is absolutely nothing natural in this sort of symmetry. I regard it as an exercise in architecture rather than gardening.
This should have won Best in Show. In addition to being stunningly beautiful and immaculate in its execution, it also had a warmth and sensuality that the Best in Show winner lacked. The flower colours and textures were brilliantly chosen and were just perfect against the more formal elements.
An absolutely fabulous garden, definitley My Best In Show.
I adore this garden... very contemporary.I can only dream of such stunning beauty for my "postage stamp" garden...! Sheer perfection. Well done
Very beautiful design. Simple lines, lovely use of water and sumptious planting. A very impressive Chelsea debut and a well-deserved gold!
Exquisite and easily the best garden I have seen at the show for years. Beautifully English combined with Italian style at it's best.
Those surrounding stepped hedges provide a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere to a very successful composition, a gorgeous outdoor living area.
Ulf's garden was beautiful but Luciano's should have got Best in Show because it is so perfect, serene and so very, very stylish.
Those massed hedges are to die for, and beautifully clipped, they look like they've been there for decades, truly stunning in concept. Be careful when removing as birds may have moved in, it looks so settled!
