National Appeals

In addition to the UK-wide broadcast appeals, there are periodical national appeals in Wales and Northern Ireland. Applications from charities whose work is focused on these nations are considered at regular intervals by the respective National Appeals Advisory Committees.

BBC Wales National Appeals

BBC Cymru Wales works in collaboration with Children in Need in Wales to allocate radio broadcast opportunities to local charities and groups with whom they are working. The BBC Cymru Wales Charities Advisory Forum (WCAF) provides advice on policy and charity broadcasts. It also advises on BBC-wide fundraising projects as they affect Wales. If charities have a story they think would make an interesting item or feature on any programmes broadcast by BBC Cymru Wales they should get in touch with BBC Cymru Wales Audience Services team on 03703 500 700 or email audiences.wales@bbc.co.uk

BBC Northern Ireland National Appeals

Broadcast Appeals provide an opportunity for local charities to describe their work and to make an appeal for volunteers or funds. These short programmes are broadcast throughout the year on BBC Northern Ireland television and radio. All Broadcast Appeals are produced with technical and editorial support from the BBC. They reach a large and diverse audience and contribute to wider community awareness of issues and developments within the charitable sector. For more information contact:

BBC Scotland National Appeals

BBC Scotland discontinued regular appeals in 2000 due to lack of demand. This followed consultations with the voluntary sector in Scotland. However, should there be a request, the Scotland Appeals Advisory Committee would consider it and make a recommendation to broadcasting colleagues. For further information, write to:
