Step 1 of 4 - Choose and secure your identity

Create a memorable name that you're happy for other bbc.co.uk members to see.

Make up a member name
What is a member name?

Must be 6 or more characters
e.g. superjim

6 to 20 characters (letters or numbers). No spaces, punctuation or special characters, only underscores and hyphens can be used, e.g. super_james, super-james.

Think of a password

Your new password must be between 7 and 20 characters, with no spaces. It mustn't be the same as your member name. Remember if you use capital letters you need to use them every time you type your password

What is a secret question?

e.g. What is the name of my first school?

Think of a secret question only you know the answer to. Your answer must be 6 or more characters long. We'll ask you to answer your secret question if you forget your password.
