Cooking With Waves

Cooking With Waves

Make a magic air skittle game!

What to do:

Step 1

Cutting a hole in the cup.

1. Using the sharp end of a pencil, carefully pierce a hole in the bottom of the cup. You may need to ask an adult to help you. Carefully cut a hole using your scissors, about the size of a ten pence piece, in the cup’s bottom. Watch out as scissors can be sharp.

Step 2

Cup on the bag

2. Lay your plastic bag out flat on the table. Place the paper cup, turned upside down, on top of it. Use a ballpoint pen to lightly trace a line about 10cm outside the rim of the cup. Carefully cut into the plastic bag.

Step 3

Plastic bag over the cup

3. Take the plastic bag circle and place it over the top of the paper cup. Use an elastic band to secure it. Make sure that the bag is stretched taut over the cup top.

Step 4

Assemble carrot skittles

4. Carefully cut out the printable carrot ‘skittles’ from the printable sheet ‘A’: they consist of the carrots and the corresponding rectangles make up the skittle bases. Carefully cut into the marked lines on cut-out shapes, insert the carrots into the bases, and stand the skittles upright on the table.

Step 5

Playing the game

5. Hold your cup by the top, where the plastic bag is, and direct the cup bottom at the carrot skittles. Flick the plastic bag with your fingers. This will direct a puff of air, through the hole, at the little skittles and send them flying! You’ve created an air wave skittle game – well done!
