You will need:

  • An old sock
  • Rice
  • Elastic band
  • Marker Pen
  • Stickers
  • Scissors (grown-up use only)

Remember to ask a Grown-up for help.

What to do:

Step 1

Materials needed

Find an old sock and gather together the rest of your materials.

Step 2

Pour rice or lentils into the sock

With a grown-up's help pour a small amount of rice into the sock.

Step 3

Stretch sock

Push your rice down to the bottom of the sock.

Step 4

Tie elastic band on to the sock to secure the rice or lentils

Get your elastic band and tie it on to the sock to secure the rice. You now have your Socktonauts head.

Step 5

Stick your eyes on to your sock.

Use the marker pen to make eyes on the stickers. If you don't have circle stickers, with a grown-up's help cut out any shape you want. Then stick the eyes on to your sock.

Step 6

Draw a nose and mouth

With your marker pen draw two vertical lines to make a nose and then draw a mouth.

Step 7

Cut strips in to the rest of your sock to make tentacles.

With a grown-up's help cut strips in to the rest of your sock to make tentacles. Your Socktonaut is now complete!
