Octonaut Paper Plate Puppet
Make your own Kwazii
This should take about 45 mins
You will need:
- Print-out (1 page)
- Orange, white and black paint
- Paint pots
- 2 Paint brushes
- 2 Paper plates or 2 card cake bases
- Scissors
- Brown felt tip
- Old black sock
- Old cereal box
- 2 Bottle tops
- Pink paper
- Yellow card
- Orange card
- Ball of string or yarn
Remember to ask a Grown-up for help.
What to do:
Step 1
Mix the orange paint with a little bit of white paint to make the shade of orange needed for Kwazii's face.
Step 2
Use the mixed colours to paint the back of one of your paper plates and leave it to dry.
Step 3
To make the pocket for your hand, cut the other paper plate in half and add glue to the outer edge before sticking it to the back of your painted paper plate
Step 4
To begin decorating Kwazii's face, you can use the printout or with an adults help cut out two triangles out of orange card and glue two smaller triangles made from yellow card within them.
Step 5
Don't forget to carefully tear off a piece on one of the ears before gluing them to the top of the front of your painted plate.
Step 6
To make Kwazii's nose, stick two yellow bottle tops and a scrunched piece of pink paper to the front of the painted plate.
Step 7
Use the printout or draw and cut out Kwazii's hat. Colour it in and glue it to the top of the plate between his ears.
Step 8
To add Kwazii's whisker marks, use a brown felt tip pen to draw three spots on either side of the bottle tops.
Step 9
Paint a long piece of string black and glue it across the width of the plate to make part of Kwazii's eye patch.
Step 10
To make Kwazii's eye, cut the shape out of an old cereal box and colour it in black leaving a white dot.
Step 11
To make the eye patch, use an old sock to cut out the shape. Glue them both into place on your painted paper plate.
