Yogurt pot cress head

Make your very own cress heads and watch them grow!

30 minutes This should take about 30 mins

You will need:

  • A yogurt pot
  • Cotton wool
  • Kitchen roll
  • Cress seeds
  • Water
  • Paint and paint brushes

Remember to ask a Grown-up for help.

What to do:

Step 1

Yogurt pot with face painted on

Take the label off the yogurt pot and paint a funny face on top.

Step 2

Wet kitchen roll and cotton wool going into yogurt pot

Put some wet kitchen roll in the bottom and put some damp cotton wool on top of that. Make sure there are a couple of centimetres left at the top.

Step 3

Cress seeds on top of cotton wool

Evenly spread some cress seeds on top of the cotton wool and press them down gently (you can add some food colouring to the cotton wool if you want the cress “hair” to be a different colour).

Step 4

Cress head pot on the windowsill

Put the pot in a warm place that gets some sunlight, like a windowsill.

Step 5

Cress head with cress growing out of it

Watch the cress grow! This should happen after about 7 days.
