Once upon a time, there lived a merchant who had three daughters.

The youngest was the most kind, clever and pretty of the three sisters. Her name was Beauty.

The family lived in the country, but had only a little money. Beauty's sisters were always moaning about how poor they were, but Beauty did not once complain.
