Make a Charley Rocket

Little Charley Bear in a Rocket

Help Charley into outer space by building him this super power space rocket. Whoosh!

15 minutes This should take about 15 mins

You will need:

  • Print-out (1 page)
  • Kitchen towel roll tube
  • Cereal box
  • Red, orange or yellow plastic bags
  • Tin foil
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape

Remember to ask a Grown-up for help.

What to do:

Step 1

Round piece of cardboard and scissors

To make the silver top of the rocket, draw a circle on the cereal box, you can do this by drawing round the sticky tape, then cut it out. Cut a small wedge out of the circle and then bend the circle to make a cone shape, add a piece of tape to secure it.

Step 2

An image of two triangles

To make the triangles at the bottom of the rocket cut out a square from the cereal box, about 13cm. Fold it in half so that you make two triangles, then cut down the fold, so that you are left with the two triangles.

Step 3

Silver triangles

Cover the cone and the triangles with the foil. After that get your two triangles and make careful cuts as shown in the photo, then slot the two shapes together, now you have made your rocket feet!

Step 4

Charley Bear in Rocket

To make the rocket body printout and colour in the rocket pattern with Charley Bear on it. Cut around the printout, wrap it around the tube and secure it in place with some sticky tape, or double sided.
To attach the feet. Cut 4 slits about 7cm long around the bottom of the rocket. Now you can slot in the rocket feet. Pop the cone in the top of the rocket.

Step 5

Scissors cutting plastic bag

Cut out long strips, about 30 cm long, from the plastic bag. When done attach with sticky tape to the inside of the tube at the bottom of the rocket.

Step 6

Completed Rocket

Blast off! Your rocket is complete, time to imagine the space adventure you're going to go on with Charley.
