Fimbles

Follow the adventures of Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom as they encourage viewers to see their immediate world in a new light.

Fimbles

Finding out about the world, making discoveries and having new experiences is just what the Fimbles and all very young children enjoy doing. Within the programme, children are offered opportunities to make their own discoveries by using their basic skills and senses.

The friendly-faced costumed characters Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom have instant appeal with their strong stripy colours and movements, which reflect the physical movements of the young child. They are joined by animated puppets Roly Mo the mole, Rockit the frog, Bessie the bird and Ribble the chick, who take significant parts within the story line.

Scenes of real-life experiences enable children to see their immediate world in a new light. Good use is made of appropriate questioning that encourages children to think about what they are viewing and engage in the process, rather than simple passive viewing.

The Fimbles help to guide the child, causing them to think, consider and promote curiosity whilst viewing.

The various sections of the CBeebies Fimbles website provide a link to the sections in Fimbles Valley, where the characters enjoy specific activities.

Read about the characters

Fimbo

Fimbo is a boisterous and fun-loving young Fimble, sometime mischievous, sometimes serious but always eager to find out. He's a thinker as well as a doer, coming up with endless grand ideas and schemes.

Fimbo has his own special musical instrument, the Shimmy Shaker, which accompanies his songs and dances with great vigour. Fimbo likes to eat - if there's ever an opportunity to slip a Crumble Cracker into the game and into his mouth then you can be sure that Fimbo will seize it with both hands!

Florrie

Florrie is endlessly curious, the Fimble who asks the most questions. Adventurous and spirited, she has a four-year-old's grasp of language and comprehension.

Full of energy, free and spontaneous, she has a passion for imaginative play and her tiny doll, Little One, always accompanies her through her seemingly endless repertoire of games and songs. Florrie is very fond of Roly Mo - her passion for pretending is equalled only by her passion for stories, and she's the best storyteller there is.

Baby Pom

Pom is still a toddler, with a growing vocabulary all of her own. She loves collecting words and trying out her own language, but if it is not always as developed as her bright little mind, she can sometimes get frustrated.

Pom's laughter, excitement and anticipation are constant as she urges her friends to 'play, play', 'sing, sing', 'find, find'. She is very independent, always wanting to try things for herself and delights when she achieves a task. Baby Pom uses her Trundle Truck and she is particularly fond of Ribble.

Other characters

The Fimbles have many other friends, including:

Bessie is a plump, round, fluffy bird who helps the Fimbles and the young viewers navigate their way around their world.

Ribble is literally a bundle of joy and golden fluff. Ribble's sole expression is 'cheep, cheep', and when he's especially happy he starts to vibrate.

Roly Mo is a mole who is the most senior member of the group. He's always ready with a shoulder to lean on and is a natural storyteller - he knows just the story or rhyme to fit every occasion.

Rockit is a boisterous frog who is the joker of the pack. He's a wildly imaginative thinker, often coming up with the most outlandish suggestions. Over-excitable could be his middle name!
