3rd and Bird

Explore the themes of friendship and being part of a community by joining a group of birds that live high up in branches of an old tree.

3rd and Bird

3rd & Bird is an animated pre-school series about a community of birds that live, learn and play in the branches of a beautiful old tree. The vibrant treetop community of 3rd & Bird is alive with singing, whistling and dancing.

Read about the characters

Samuel Lovebird

Samuel is five years old. He always tries to plan things out as much as he can, although things do sometimes take a turn for the worse. When Samuel starts to flap out, his friends are always on hand to remind him that there's always a way to solve a problem.

Muffin Lovebird

Muffin is Samuel’s little sister. She can’t do big bird stuff, like fly, or speak proper English, but that never stops her from trying. When she wants something, Samuel is always the first bird that Muffin asks for help.

Rudy

Rudy is Samuel's best friend whose 'brilliant' ideas often get the birds into trouble. Rudy is known for flying around 3rd and Bird with her eyes closed and falling on her bottom.

Other characters

Mr Beakman is Samuel's school teacher and teaches him all the usual bird stuff like nest building, worm finding, which way is south and that there's always a way! Whenever the birds are about to give up on something, Mr Beakman flies in to encourage them to keep on trying.

Mrs Billingsley is from New Zealand and is like everyone's favourite grandmother. She has a great garden but misplaced her watering can in the seventies and has been looking for it ever since.

Quinn is a very cool bird who can build or fix just about anything. Once he combined a pogo stick with a nest and made a pogo nest. Samuel and Rudy broke it but Quinn helped them fix it. As Quinn likes to say: “There's nothing that clacks or clicks your old pal Quinn can't fix!” Or maybe it should be: “There's nothing that Quinn can make that Samuel and Rudy can't break!”

Missy is an older French girl who refers to Samuel and friends as the 'little birds'. She loves to play dress-up with the other birds.

Mr and Mrs Lovebird are Samuel and Muffin's mum and dad. Mrs Lovebird likes to fly high and try new things whereas Mr Lovebird likes to stay chilling out on the tree. They are always there to encourage Samuel or lend a hand when he needs some help. Which can be a lot!
