ParentPort

Working together for media standards

ParentPort is run by the UK’s media regulators. They set and enforce standards across the media to protect children from inappropriate material.

Seen or heard something unsuitable for children? Maybe it was a programme on TV or online, a film, an advert, a video game or something in a magazine. At ParentPort you can find out about the standards we expect from the media, make a complaint and share your views with them.

ParentPort works closely with the BBC Trust to ensure programmes are high quality and make sure the BBC has the right standards and that its programmes live up to those standards.

These include the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines, which set out the standards required of everyone making programmes and other content for the BBC.

The Editorial Guidelines are drawn up by the production and broadcasting side of the BBC (the “BBC Executive”) and approved by the Trust. They apply to all of the BBC’s content, wherever and however it is received.
