Introduction
Creating this wheel will help to develop your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, and how things work. The activity will also help to improve their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they carefully cut, glue and attach various materials to assemble your handlebar and spinning wheel. The make is quite fiddly in places, so you will need to be on hand to help your child.
How to extend the magic
Go on a wheel hunt! Look for big and little wheels inside and outside your home - eg wheels on a chair, a bed, a buggy, a toy car, a bicycle, a lorry. Make a spot sheet and see how many you can spot in one day. Your child could draw a picture of a vehicle with wheels. Can they think of any other things that are round to add to their picture - maybe a sun, some flowers and some big round happy faces!
