This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).
How to extend the fun
This recipe uses tinned beans. You could talk about how there are different types of beans (eg baked beans, broad beans, French beans). You could then watch and listen to a story about a magic bean. Can your child guess the name of the story? Click through to the Story Time section, select the 'Fairy Tales' option on the left-hand side and then click on 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Cuddle up and watch it together.
