Introduction

This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).

How to extend the fun

There are lots of different vegetables in this dish. Before you start cooking them, why not have fun creating a fun veggie face from some of them? You could use the potatoes for eyes, the cauliflower for ears, the baby sweetcorn for eyebrows and the green beans for a mouth. Have fun experimenting with any other fruit and veg in your kitchen!
