This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).

This recipe uses cherry tomatoes. Explain that tomatoes come in different colours, shapes and sizes. Cherry tomatoes are small while beefsteak tomatoes are much bigger. Tomatoes are usually red, but can be other colours such as yellow and orange. They can be eaten raw (eg in a salad), they can be cooked, and they can be used in sauces (pasta sauces and tomato ketchup).
