Introduction
This fun make is a great way of encouraging your child to look at books and enjoy the whole process of storytelling and learning to read. It will also help to develop your child's hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they colour in and then carefully snip out the Jelly design, stick it onto the cardboard and then attach the lolly sticks. It's a bit tricky in places so you'll need to be on hand to help out.
How to extend the magic
Once you've made the bookmark, ask your child to place it in one of their favourite storybooks. Then snuggle down and flick through the pages together. Ask them what is happening in each picture, why they like the story and who their favourite character is. If your child can recognise letters, ask them to point out words beginning with a chosen letter. If your child is learning to read, see if your child can tell you what any of the words on the page say.
