Introduction
This model make is fun and easy to make and allows your child to experiment with the texture of the clay as well as with different colours. The activity is also a great way of helping your child to develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they mould the clay, squidge it into the plastic spoon, add the cotton buds, and then carefully paint the finished bug.
How to extend the magic
These simple bugs only take a few minutes to create, so why not create a whole family of different-coloured bugs? Encourage them to be as creative as they like with their designs (eg they could try stripes, spots, swirls, zig zags). Once the bugs have dried, you can have fun together making them scuttle around the room!
