This artistic make is great fun although it does get a bit messy, so make sure you use a wipe-clean sheet or put some old newspaper down. It will help to develop your child's hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they flick the paint off the toothbrush bristles to create the starry space effect and carefully tear and cut the paper to make the craters, planets and aliens.
How to extend the magic
Let your child create some other pictures using the toothbrush flicking technique to splatter paint across paper. They could create a multi-coloured splatter picture using lots of different-coloured paints - or they could cut out shapes from the splattered paper and use them to make a collage.
