Introduction
This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).
How to extend the fun
Explain that bananas grow on trees in hot countries - and when they are picked they are green. They ripen up by the time they reach the shops. You could make a fun fruity face on a plate using a banana for a mouth and other fruits for the eyes and nose. Try out some different combinations.
