Introduction
This activity is great for extending your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them, as they learn about different types of food and where they come from. It's also a good way of developing their fine motor skills as they prepare ingredients and handle utensils. And it teaches them an important life skill - how to prepare tasty, nutritious meals (and the occasional yummy treat!).
How to extend the fun
Ask your child what they know about bread and the different varieties of bread? Explain that bread is made using flour - a powdery substance made from grinding grains such as wheat. Some bread is white in colour, some is brown (eg wholemeal). Bread is used to make sandwiches and people like it toasted too. Soda bread is delicious when it is served with cheese or soup.
