Introduction

This simple make allows your child to get creative and experiment with colour as they decorate the front cover of the recipe holder. They'll be developing their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they use their colouring pencils, carefully snip along the dotted lines (you might need to help them with this) and glue the cover onto the ring binder.

How to extend the magic

Why not choose a savoury, sweet or fruit recipe from Big Cook's Recipe Book (it's in the Make & Colour section) and get creative in the kitchen! There are lots of delicious ideas to choose from. Preparing ingredients and learning to handle utensils (such as mixing with a wooden spoon) is another great way of helping to develop your child's hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Weighing out ingredients will also help them with their thinking and numeracy skills.
