Introduction
This picture book story will help to develop your child’s language and literacy skills, especially their listening skills. Watching it together is a great way of encouraging your child to enjoy books and the whole process of storytelling. The activity is also great for stimulating their imagination as they listen to the narrator tell the funny tale of a badly drawn dog who wants a new look.
How to extend the magic
Have some fun together pretending to be cute pooches. Shake your coat, wag your tail and go for a trot around the room. Don't forget to have a good bark too - RUFF, RUFF! If you, like you could have a go at making some dog masks together. You'll just need a paper plate each, some colouring pens and some felt or thick card to make your ears. (You'll need to help your child cut out the eye holes.)
