Introduction
This activity will help to develop your child's knowledge and understanding of the world around them as they learn about seeds and how they grow into baby plants. It will also help them to develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they prepare a pot with gravel and compost and carefully handle and place the seeds in the soil.
How to extend the magic
Create a miniature garden using a plant tray, soil, gravel (for a garden path,) a little plastic container filled with water (for a pond), twigs for trees and moss for a lawn. Then sprinkle some cress or rocket in one corner, give it a water, and in a week or so your garden will start growing!
